About the Montréal Studio

The Céramic Café on St-Denis Street in Montreal is the first Céramic Café to open in Quebec, in 1997. Since 2007, it has been located at 4338 St-Denis Street, corner of Marie-Anne near the Mont-Royal metro station. Previously, it was across the street at 4201 St-Denis Street, on the corner of Rachel Street. This Montreal Céramic Café is spread over 2 floors and can accommodate up to 100 people.

The Céramic Café de Montréal team travels as far as Gatineau to offer ceramic painting activities to groups such as schools and daycares, summer camps, office parties, showers, children's parties and other occasions.

How does it work?

1

In-store, choose your ceramics. Most of our ceramics cost between $10 and $39.

2

Choose from over 80 paint colors. To give you an idea of the quantity needed, we estimate that you can paint the 3 layers needed for each the interior and the exterior of an average ceramic (ex: T1 base mug) with 2 oz of paint.

3

If needed, choose the accessories or paint brushes.

4

Pay for the ceramics, paints and accessories directly in store. Once you have finished painting, bring your ceramics back in store to be fired. At that time, you will be charged for the firing ($4 per ceramic). It takes about ten days to fire them.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the ceramic you choose. Most of our ceramics range from $10 to $39. Then, you pay for the studio fee. This includes paint, accessories, glazing, and firing.

The first hour costs $9 for an adult between the ages of 12 and 54, and $6 for children under 12 or seniors 55 or older. Taxes and tip are not included.

For example, a 25-year-old adult who chooses a $15 ceramic and paints for 2 hours:
$15 + $10 + taxes + tip = $34.43

Why do you suggest a tip?

Throughout the activity, our artistics consultants will not only provide you with a service for food and beverage orders, but also help you during your ceramic painting activity. They can assist you with the use of accessories, recommend and help pick your colors, print a design and explain the painting techniques available so that you are proud and satisfied with your work of art! The service does not stop there; when firing, the employees make sure to take care of your piece meticulously to obtain the best possible result. We therefore suggest that our customers leave a 15% tip, but this remains at your discretion.

How does the membership work?

You can buy it on our website or in store. It can only be used in one of our locations. The card is activated on your first use for 30 or 90 days, depending on the chosen package. During this period, at each visit, your studio fee will be free and you’ll get a 10% discount on all your ceramics.

My Tuango coupon is expired, can I still use it?

When your coupon has expired, you can still present it at the cash register. Unfortunately, the coupon is no longer valid for the special offer. However, we will deduct the price of the coupon before tax from your bill. For example, if you spent $10 + taxes for a coupon for 2 people, we will deduct $10 from your bill before taxes.

How can I make a reservation?

Visit our reservation platform for each location here

Reservation terms vary by location.

Is it mandatory to make a reservation?

Reservations are not required. We hold a few tables for walk-ins. You can come to the desired location to see if we have space. However, we are often full on weekend afternoons, holidays, Christmas, school break and rainy days. If this is the case, we will establish a waiting list on a first come, first served basis.

To make sure you don't wait in line, it's best to book here

There are no more reservation slots available for the day I want?

We accept reservations for specific time slots, but we also hold a few tables for walk-ins. You can still come to the store or call us to see if we have availability. If we are full, we will establish a waiting list on a first come, first served basis.

How can I modify or cancel my reservation?

You can click on the link in the confirmation email sent to you by our Libro, our reservation platform. This allows you to modify or cancel the reservation. If you have any difficulty, do not hesitate to contact us.

What is the firing process?

Depending on the location you’ll visit, you’ll either glaze your ceramic yourself or we will take care of it after your visit. Then, we’ll stack the ceramics in a ceramic kiln. Each ceramic is placed on metal spikes called "Pied-de-coq". These ensure that the ceramics do not stick to the shelf during firing. The kiln heats all night until it reaches about 2000F. The next day, the oven must be cooled slowly, step by step, to avoid temperature shocks which can cause breakage. Then, we sand away the small marks left by the metal spikes under the ceramic so that it is safe.

How long is the firing process?

Firing times vary between 7 to 21 days. Our delays increase during busy periods. With our RUSH option, it is possible to fire ceramics within 72 hours for a small additional charge of $5 for one ceramic, or $10 for 2 or more ceramics.

It is also possible for us to ship your ceramics to you by mail once they are fired. Prices start at $40 for shipping costs.

How long do I have to pick-up my ceramic?

Once your ceramic is fired, we keep it in store for 60 days. After this period, it will be considered abandoned. Unfortunately, we have limited space and cannot keep the ceramics longer.

I’ve lost my receipt, can I still pick-up my ceramic?

Yes, with the phone number linked to the receipt we can find your receipt in our cash system.

What kind of food do you offer?

Menus vary by location, but we offer paninis, nachos, coffee, smoothies and desserts. Check out the menus here

Can I bring my own food?

Since we are a café/restaurant, it is prohibited to bring your own food. Check our menus here

Is it possible to come and eat without painting?

Yes, it’s possible!

Do you offer take-out food?

Yes, all of our menu items can be offered as a take-out option.

Do you offer allergen-free or gluten-free items?

Unfortunately, our kitchens are not designed to prevent cross-contamination, so we cannot guarantee that there are no traces of allergens. We do have some gluten-free items. For example, we can open a new bag of gluten-free nachos to prevent contamination if you request it.

Why do you automatically add a tip to group activities?

Throughout the activity, our artistic advisors not only offer you a service for food and drink orders, but also help you during your painting activity. They can assist you with the use of accessories, or advise you on a color/design so that you are proud of your work! The service does not stop there; during the firing, the employees make sure to take care of your work meticulously to obtain the best possible result. Our policy is therefore to automatically add a 15% tip on the total bill for a group of 6 people or more.

Can I use my Tuango coupons for my group activity or children's birthday party?

Group specials and birthday party packages cannot be combined with any other offer, promotion, discount or rebate.

How many parents can I invite to my children's birthday party?

2 accompanying non-painting adults are included in the birthday party packages. If you want to invite additional non-painting parents, it is allowed for a small additional fee. Please inquire when making your reservation.

Does the paint stain?

The paint is non toxic and very easily washed with water. It is not necessary to bring aprons.
